GUIDE · CHOOSING YOUR CARGO BIKE

How to choose
a cargo bike.

The right model fits your everyday life. Before comparing prices, think about who will travel with you, the routes you use and where you will keep your bike.

Start with an ordinary day.

A cargo bike adds room for children, a dog or your everyday load. Electric models assist you as you pedal. Your route, riding style and load still matter.

Write down three regular journeys: the school run, shopping or a trip with your dog. Note hills, narrow passages and parking. This makes it easier to decide which features you will actually use.

For children: seats and load limits both matter.

The number of seats is different from the weight limit. Check the box capacity and rider limit, and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Seats and restraints must be suitable for the children's ages and needs. Shopping and other bags also count towards the load.

Compare Flex, Delight and Longtail Varia. The Kindergarten versions offer seating for up to six children. Always check the specification of the exact model.

For a dog: consider getting in and out.

Look at access to the box, usable space and how your dog will be secured. The setup should suit your dog's size. Introduce the bike gradually, beginning while it is stationary before trying short journeys.

Explore Flex Dog and Delight Dog. We can help check the configuration and load limits before you order.

For a business: measure what you carry.

Compare the size as well as the weight of your load. Parcels, tools or supplies need appropriate space and securing. Think about loading frequency, parking and access through gates or entrances.

See Flex Box and the other Box versions in our cargo bike range. Send us the dimensions and approximate weight of your load to help narrow the choice.

Dimensions, turning and storage.

A three-wheel cargo bike has a different width and turning behaviour from a conventional bike. Measure the narrowest point on your route, gates, doors and the place where you plan to keep it.

Where possible, try starting, braking and turning with a properly secured load. The bike's size and weight also affect handling when you are not riding. A photograph alone cannot tell you how a model will fit your daily routine.

Choose the motor and battery for your route.

Assistance helps you pedal, but the experience depends on the drive system and load. Compare motor type and position, battery and gears in the model specifications. Consider where you can charge the battery.

Range varies with load, hills, temperature, surface, tyres and assistance level. Use your regular route as a reference and allow a reasonable reserve rather than relying on a single advertised range figure.

Price, equipment and delivery.

Our catalogue lists current bike prices in EUR. Confirm what comes with the base model and the cost of accessories. A canopy, lock and other equipment can affect the final total.

At cargobajk.sk, bikes are supplied to order through an individual quote. We confirm availability with the manufacturer, configuration, total price, transport and estimated delivery time in Slovakia before you order. An enquiry does not commit you to buying.

We will help you compare the models.

Tell us who or what you will carry, your usual routes, storage space and budget. Our advice also draws on our own experience of family life with a cargo bike in Malmö.
